Deirdre L. Niblock
Founder and Center Director
As Founder and Center Director of the Center for Learning, Inc. and Executive Director of the Center for Learning Foundation, Ms. Niblock brings over 20 years of experience in spearheading the growth of early childhood education facilities and progressive responsibility in educational administration. Ms. Niblock has a demonstrated passion for children and works constantly to ensure that their educational environment is age appropriate academically, socially, emotionally and physically. She believes in the old school values of education, but also incorporates the new school methods for getting, and keeping, in touch with the whole child.
Ms. Niblock has previous professional experience as a Headmaster and Center Director for two other educational programs in the Columbia area.
Ms. Niblock led the previous facility she directed to become the first predominantly African-American school to receive accreditation from the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) in the Greater Columbia area.
While at that same facility she developed and implemented strategic recruiting efforts that increased enrollment by 300%.
She has been called on to lend her expertise in the areas of private and public education. She was selected as a member of the Richland County Schools research panel that developed the first public Montessori school in Columbia, SC (Brockman Elementary School).
Recently, Ms. Niblock was responsible for making history again.
In February of 2012 during the Black History Program, it was announced that the Center for Learning became the first female, African-American owned and directed independent school to be accredited by the South Carolina Independent School Association.
She attended the public schools of Richland School District One; she is a proud graduate of W. J. Keenan High School. She matriculated at Howard University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Ms. Niblock is the proud mother of two daughters, Alexx and Troi, and she is the youngest of three children born to William and Ola Miller Niblock.
